Bridging the gap
|
India’s growth story during the six and half decades of Independence has been remarkable, with India emerging from an underdeveloped nation to one of the largest economies. Despite many ups and downs in the global economy, India has been able to hold fort and reached a growth rate of 7.5 per cent in the last quarter. Recent report by the World Bank has projected India as the world’s fastest growing economy. As per the report, India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is expected to grow at 7.5 per cent in 2015-16 followed by further acceleration to 7.9 per cent in 2016-17 and then to 8 percent in 2017-18. The economic indicators show a significant improvement in growth figures over the last one year.
